A beautifully crafted Chinese rectangular tray box, likely made of Huali (rosewood). The piece features a sliding lid that opens to reveal a spacious, unlined interior compartment. The lid is exquisitely decorated with intricate mother-of-pearl (shell) inlay, depicting a lively scene of two birds perched on flowering branches with rockwork. The sides are further adorned with delicate inlaid floral and scrolling vine motifs. The tray is raised on short bracket feet and features decorative posts at the corners. A sophisticated piece for storing jewelry, seals, or other small treasures.
