A beautifully crafted Chinese lobed tray or display stand, likely made of Huali (rosewood). The piece features a distinctive foliate (flower-shaped) outline with a low, openwork gallery rail. The flat center is exquisitely decorated with intricate mother-of-pearl (shell) inlay, depicting a lively scene of two golden carp swimming amongst lotus blossoms and aquatic plants. The carp motif is a traditional Chinese symbol for abundance and success. A sophisticated piece for displaying teaware, scholar's objects, or collectibles.
