A beautifully crafted Chinese rectangular tray or display stand, likely made of Huali (rosewood). The tray features a scalloped, wavy rim accented with small mother-of-pearl dots. The flat center is exquisitely decorated with intricate mother-of-pearl (shell) inlay, depicting a pair of mandarin ducks swimming amongst lotus flowers and foliage, accompanied by silver-inlaid calligraphy reading "鸳鸯戏水" (Mandarin Ducks Playing in Water), a traditional symbol of love and marital fidelity. A sophisticated piece for displaying teaware, scholar's objects, or collectibles.
