Original painting, oil on canvas stretched over a metal frame, depicting a sophisticated Synthetic Cubist composition of a musician seated in a chair playing the cello. The artist breaks down the seated musician, bow, instrument body, and scroll into sharp geometric planes and clean structural lines. The figure wears a black suit with a blue lapel and sits on a green-backed chair with a yellow polka-dot seat, before sheet-music forms on a lavender ground and a deep blue floor. Rendered with hard black contour lines and flattened geometric planes in the School of Paris Cubist tradition. Unsigned, date unknown, consistent in style with mid-20th-century Cubist-influenced painting, estimated as 1940s–1950s. The reverse is covered with black paper backing and bears a small numbered inventory label ("29"). Canvas measures 16" x 20" (unframed). A bold, graphic Cubist figure study suited to a collector of mid-century modernist or music-themed painting.
Authentic vintage studio condition overall. Painted surface is well-preserved with clean geometric color blocking and strong visual appeal. Canvas is stretched over a period wire/metal frame support with a dark paper backing sheet. Back retains a small paper estate/inventory sticker numbered "29" near the top center edge. Unframed, showing minor, natural age wear along the extreme outer edges. Please review all high-resolution photos carefully for exact surface texture, backing, and border details prior to purchase.
