Mid-Century Vintage California Seascape Plein Air Painting.
Frothy surf conveyed via intricate brush strokes invites oceanic musings.
Diffused warm light teases to emerge through the cloudcover. Is it the sun or is it the moon? It reflects softly in the smooth wet sand and evokes a feeling of serenity. The painting has an uncanny ability to shift with the time of day... In the evening, the painting appears to be lit by mysterious moon rise. Then, in daylight, it appears to be filled with the expansive optimism of a bright sunny day.
A small group of pipers waits for the waves to peel back so they can rush in and grab a snack. A couple of seagulls glide gracefully overhead.
Signed illegibly.
