Large Vintage Giltwood & Gesso Full-Length Pier Mirror
Impressive large-scale rectangular mirror featuring a substantial wood frame with a warm, aged gilt finish. Measuring approximately 64 inches high by 30 inches wide, the mirror has elegant architectural proportions and works beautifully as a full-length dressing mirror, pier mirror, entryway mirror, bedroom mirror, or statement wall mirror.
The broad molded frame features a stepped profile with restrained classical styling. Its aged gold surface has developed considerable character, including natural variations in color, rubbing, craquelure, scratches, chips and areas of gilt and gesso loss.
The reverse is particularly interesting and reveals substantial traditional wood construction, including wood back panels, structural bracing and multiple metal hanging fittings. The construction and naturally aged surfaces give the piece considerably more character than a contemporary reproduction.
The frame has intentionally been left in its existing condition rather than refinished or re-gilded, preserving its attractive timeworn appearance.
No maker’s mark or manufacturer’s label has been located. Exact age and country of origin are unknown; therefore, no unsupported maker or geographic attribution is being made.
A handsome large-scale decorative mirror with an authentic aged appearance suitable for traditional, European-inspired, eclectic, maximalist and transitional interiors.
Dimensions: approximately 64”H × 30”W × 2”D.
Please review all photographs, including close-up and reverse images, as they are considered an important part of the condition description.
