Robert Wilkinson (1752–1825) was a prominent British mapmaker, book publisher, and print seller active in London during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.  Operating from his well-known offices at 58 Cornhill Street and 125 Fenchurch Street, he was one of the most successful commercial map providers and at the top of the London print market.  Rather than drawing every map from scratch as an explorer, Wilkinson was a master compiler and updater.   He specialized in taking existing geographical plates, incorporating the newest discoveries (like those of Captain James Cook), and re-engraving the updated plates.
