Modern ceramic table lamp, dating to approximately the 1960s and bearing the impressed “Made in France” mark and model number 5907 to the underside.
The lamp has an exceptionally stylish asymmetric form, finished in a rich high-gloss black glaze with a sweeping pale aqua/seafoam panel. The fluid teardrop-shaped decoration and elongated silhouette are characteristic of the adventurous ceramic design associated with Vallauris and the French Riviera pottery movement of the mid-20th century.
The original-style aged brass lamp fitting provides a beautiful contrast to the glossy ceramic body and retains an attractive period patina. A particularly decorative piece even without a shade, and superb when paired with a small tapered or drum shade.
