A scarce group of five original decorative-art plates from Oskar Haebler’s Modernistische Stilornamente (“Modernized Style Ornaments”), published in Plauen, Germany, in 1914. Created as design references for textiles, embroidery, wallpaper and interior furnishings, the compositions combine late German Jugendstil ornament with emerging Art Deco geometry.
Produced in collotype with pochoir-applied color and gilt accents. An original library label documents their use by Marshall Field & Company’s Interior Decorative Fabrics department in Chicago. Offered together as five nonconsecutive plates from the original sixteen-plate portfolio.
