A Louis XV style bombe cabinet painted in the Vernis Martin manner. The swelling single door is painted with a charming winter scene of two young women on snowy steps, one carrying a mandolin, beneath a bare tree; the sides carry painted landscapes and the case is bordered with painted roses. Beaded and foliate gilt-metal moldings frame the panels, with corner mounts and a pierced band beneath the shaped rouge marble top. Raised on cabriole legs.
Period: Early 20th Century.
Dimensions: Approx. 40" H × 30" W × 17" D.
Condition: Wear consistent with age and use: scuffs and small paint losses, wear to the gilding of the mounts; hinges previously replaced. Marble top in good condition. Please see all photos.
