Antique matching set of six Schmitz, Moore & Co. sterling silver pedestal sherbet cups. Made in Newark, New Jersey during the early 20th century. Each cup features a rounded sterling bowl raised on a short pedestal with a circular stepped foot. The interiors have a warm gold/gilt wash, providing an attractive contrast with the polished sterling exteriors. The pieces also bear an elegant period script monogram. Marked STERLING together with the Schmitz, Moore & Co. maker's trademark. Circa 1910's.
Each cup is 3 inches tall and 3 1/2" diameter. The bases are 2 1/4" base diameter. Set weighs 336 grams.

The gilt interiors exhibit scratching and varying degrees of wear. Rims are not perfectly round on some examples. Please examine all photographs carefully; they are an important part of the condition description. Despite the condition issues, this is an attractive surviving matching set of six early American sterling silver sherbet cups by a documented Newark silversmith. less
