The Six Point Star is the absolute epitome of Mid Century Modern design.
The six‑point star was a popular graphic and decorative motif in Mid‑Century Modern (MCM) design because it fit perfectly with the movement’s core principles: geometric abstraction, optimism, and the atomic‑age aesthetic. The six‑point star is a simple, symmetrical geometric shape that can be rendered in bold lines or minimal outlines, aligning with the Bauhaus‑influenced belief that “form follows function” and that design should be visually clear and purposeful. Its regularity and symmetry made it an easy, effective visual element for posters, logos, and packaging.
This set includes a snifter shaped punch bowl, measuring 14" tall with lid on x 9" at widest point on body. Each glass is 2.25" tall x 3" at widest. In 1910, Albert Roye installed a glass cutting machine in a small shed behind his house and opened the Susquehanna Glass Factory. Two years later, Albert’s brother, Walter, joined the business. The operation grew, eventually moving to its current location in Columbia, Pennsylvania, a stone’s throw from the original shed where it all began.
The bowl is in excellent vintage condition, as are all the punch cups. The lid does have two minor chips on the rim, but does not detract from the presentation of the piece. See less
