Charming vintage Royal Copley ceramic planter featuring a beautifully modeled koi fish swimming among stylized aquatic foliage. The unusual sculptural form incorporates a dramatic openwork center, giving the piece wonderful dimension and visual interest.
Finished in Royal Copley’s characteristic soft ivory glaze with delicate blue shading and subtle pink accents, the surface displays the fine crazing associated with vintage glazed pottery. The reverse features a flowing, wave-like molded design, allowing the piece to display beautifully from either side.
Produced by Royal Copley in Ohio during the mid-20th century, this whimsical American art pottery piece works equally well as a small planter, vase or decorative object. A lovely accent for a Mid-Century Modern, coastal, eclectic or collected interior.
Unmarked on the underside, as is found on many Royal Copley pieces of this period.
