Captivating and vibrant mid-century modern oil on canvas painting titled "Carnaval d'Enfants" (Children's Carnival) by celebrated Italian artist Nino Giuffrida (1924–2015). Painted in 1971 in the historic artistic hub of Vallauris, France, this piece features four stylized children dressed in colorful Harlequin and Pierrot carnival attire, joyfully playing a mandolin and a drum.
Giuffrida’s iconic expressive style beautifully balances thick, textured brushwork with a rich, jewel-toned palette. Notably, his exceptional depiction of children earned high praise from Pablo Picasso himself during a meeting on the French Riviera in 1961.
The painting is signed by the artist on the lower right of the canvas face. The reverse side features the authentic handwritten inscriptions from the artist detailing the title, execution location, date ("Carnaval d'Enfants", Nino Giuffrida, Vallauris 1971), and the standard French canvas sizing indicator (20 F). Housed beautifully in its original wide, olive-green velvet and gilt-toned wooden frame. Perfect for mid-century modern, eclectic, or Hollywood Regency interior spaces.
