The lamp is fashioned from richly colored cranberry lead crystal in an elegant round urn form, with finely facet-cut decoration and an intricate overlay of contrasting white glass. The surface is further enhanced with hand-painted floral and foliate enameling and delicate gilt-gold accents, creating a particularly decorative and sophisticated appearance.
The deep cranberry coloration is characteristic of Bohemian glass and was achieved through the addition of gold to the molten glass, while the lead content provided exceptional clarity and brilliance. The faceted cutting allows the crystal to catch and reflect light beautifully, emphasizing the richness of the cranberry ground and the detailed painted decoration.
The urn-form crystal body is mounted on a substantial round brass metal base, providing a handsome contrast to the luminous glass.
