Each … Read more This exquisite pair of antique French table lamps incorporates beautifully crafted mid-19th-century patinated bronze urns, later adapted for lighting. Each urn is richly embellished with figural relief decoration on each face, depicting classical maidens accompanied by playful putti, creating an elegant neoclassical character. The bodies are further enhanced by gilt bronze lion-head mounts with suspended ring handles, adding both sculptural detail and a striking contrast between the dark patinated bronze and warm gilded surfaces.
Each urn is mounted on a circular Rouge marble base, providing a refined foundation and complementing the richly decorated bronze. The combination of patinated and gilt bronze with colorful natural stone demonstrates the exceptional craftsmanship and decorative sophistication associated with fine French decorative arts of the period.
Each lamp measures approximately 17 inches high from the base to the top of the original vase form and approximately 31 1/4 inches overall from the base to the top of the finial. The bases measure approximately 8 inches in diameter. Each lamp is fitted with a single light fixture and retains vintage cloth-covered power cords.
