Worked by hand in untwisted silk floss (pat) using the traditional darning technique on handspun, handwoven cotton khaddar. The loom-width panels are hand-joined, a hallmark of older phulkari. The reverse shows the counted-stitch outlines typical of authentic phulkari work.
Phulkari, meaning "flower work," was made by women in Punjab for weddings and family occasions and often passed down as heirlooms. A striking piece for wall display, a bed throw, or a textile collection.
Dimensions: 58" W × 100" L
Note: the horizontal banding visible in the full-length photo is a lighting and camera effect. In person, the color is much more even and the banding is barely noticeable.
