Original tin on cardboard (TOC) tobacco advertising sign produced for San Felice Cigars, featuring a richly illustrated scene of a well-dressed gentleman seated in an armchair, cigar in hand, beneath a glowing table lamp, with a classical female apparition rising from the smoke. The composition is framed by bold typography reading SAN FELICE and the slogan "The Cigar of Unchanging Quality," with additional text noting "Cigar for Gentlemen of Good Taste." The imagery and language reflect early 20th-century cigar marketing, which leaned heavily on themes of refinement, leisure, and masculine sophistication.
This sign was manufactured by American Art Works, a Detroit firm known for high-quality lithographed advertising pieces, for the Deisel-Wemmer-Gilbert Corporation, one of the largest cigar manufacturers in the United States during the early 1900s.
