Hand-embroidered silk coverlet from India, likely Gujarat or Rajasthan, mid-to-late 20th century. A grid of concentric roundels, each centered on a stitched rosette, framed by diamond-pattern bands and lotus motifs in the corners. Hundreds of small hand-set mirrors (shisha) catch the light across the surface.
Worked entirely by hand in lustrous silk floss in coral red, rose, olive and gold on a cotton ground. Original artisan tracing marks are still faintly visible in places, a sign of true handwork. The embroidered panel is finished with a wide cotton-linen border added later, making it ready to use as a bedspread, sofa throw or wall hanging.
