Its unusual silhouette combines a circular center with two opposing directional arrows, creating a bold graphic form designed to remain highly visible along a roadway or public-transit route.

The central medallion is hand-painted with large black “BUS STOP” lettering divided by a diagonal line. The projecting arrows retain portions of their original regulatory wording, including “NO PARKING” and a partially worn notice referencing a police order or department. Original mounting holes remain visible on the arrow-shaped sections.

The sign’s utilitarian construction, hand-painted typography, and weathered municipal surface reflect its history as functional street furniture. Decades of outdoor exposure have transformed the original finish into a layered combination of aged paint, exposed steel, oxidation, and warm rust tones.

Now removed from service, the sign functions as a distinctive piece of transportation memorabilia, industrial wall decor, or American roadside ephemera.
