Omann Jun Teak Sideboard, 1960s Danish Design
This sideboard demonstrates why Omann Jun is one of the most highly regarded Danish furniture makers of the 1960s. The design appears calm and natural, yet the quality lies precisely in the details. The refined miter joints, the carefully selected teak veneer, and the balanced proportions give the piece an appearance that still feels contemporary after sixty years. The cabinet is entirely crafted from warm teak wood with a beautiful continuous veneer pattern across the doors. The gold-colored brass hinges provide a subtle contrast to the wood and seamlessly complement the understated character of the design. The handles are concealed within the door frames, making the front appear almost entirely made of wood. Behind the doors, there is a surprising amount of storage space. Both compartments feature an original, height-adjustable shelf with matching brass shelf supports. Additionally, the left side features integrated lighting and an original switch. This makes the piece particularly suitable as a bar cabinet, but also as a compact audio cabinet for a record player and LP collection. The cable pass-through in the back panel makes this easily possible. The recessed base gives the furniture a light appearance, ensuring it remains elegant despite its generous storage space. This is a characteristic that distinguishes many high-quality Danish designs from this period. The sideboard has been professionally restored in our workshop. Old layers of maintenance have been removed, the wood has been carefully sanded, and subsequently nourished and protected with a high-quality matte furniture oil. As a result, the warm teak color is fully restored, and the furniture is ready for years of use. Upon purchase, you will receive maintenance instructions with matching furniture oil to keep the furniture in top condition. Height 54.5 cm Width 120 cm Depth 43.5 cm
