Additional Details: This lithograph was produced by Sidney Z. Lucas, who in the mid-20th century reissued selected works from the original Currier & Ives catalog. The image, originally published in 1866, is titled The American National Game of Base Ball - Grand Match for the Championship at the Elysian Fields, Hoboken, N.J. It captures one of the earliest visual records of organized baseball, featuring a lively crowd and a diamond-in-play scene that helped cement the sport's cultural place in post-Civil War America. Lucas's authorized reproductions remain sought-after by collectors of both Currier & Ives and early baseball memorabilia. See less
