A French Provincial wingback bergère and matching ottoman by Baker Furniture. The ottoman bears Baker's original oval plaque, and the chair retains its deck tag in Baker's standard label position (print faded); both pictured. Identical frames, carving, and upholstery throughout.
The carved fruitwood frames feature a serpentine crest, scrolled arm terminals, and cabriole legs ending in scroll feet, finished with brass nailhead trim. Both pieces are upholstered in a cotton floral trellis print: sweet peas, butterflies, and dragonflies on pale-blue ribbon lattice over a slate-navy ground. Each has a loose cushion with self-welting.
Dimensions
Chair: 27" W × 31" D (approx.) × 43" H; seat height 18"
Ottoman: 28" W × 20" D × 18" H
Condition: The chair's upholstery and frame are in very good condition. The ottoman top shows light staining along the lattice (pictured); it could be professionally cleaned or recovered. Original dust covers are intact, and the frames are solid, with wear consistent with age.
