A spectacular matched pair of antique American twin-size four-poster beds, dating to approximately the 1880s.
Exceptionally tall and beautifully proportioned, each bed features four dramatically elongated turned posts rising approximately six feet high, terminating in elegant urn-shaped finials. The beautifully turned posts taper through a series of classical forms, lending the pair an architectural presence rarely found in contemporary twin beds.
Each shaped wooden headboard features a graceful double-arched silhouette with distinctive oval cutouts at either side, creating a wonderfully graphic profile. The warm, richly aged wood has developed beautiful variation and patina through generations of use.
Traditional construction allows the substantial wooden side rails to attach directly to the head and foot posts, while decorative metal covers accent the posts.
Sold as a matched pair, making these especially desirable for a children's bedroom, guest room, historic home or collected interior. Their unusually tall proportions would be particularly striking beneath a high ceiling, with simple white bedding, quilts or gathered fabric canopies.

Good antique condition with considerable age-related character.
The frames display scratches, scuffs, finish wear, discoloration, small surface losses and other evidence of generations of use. There is visible wear along portions of the shaped headboards and posts. Please examine all photographs carefully for condition.
The aged finish and variations in the wood are part of the character of these antique beds and have intentionally not been disguised.
A rare and wonderfully decorative matched pair of towering antique twin four-poster beds—equally at home in a traditional Southern interior, historic house, layered English-country room or beautifully collected children's bedroom.
