This soulful genre piece captures an elderly Black man resting his hand beneath his chin in a moment of quiet, amused contemplation. Painted with rich, earthy impasto tones, the artwork exhibits exceptional mastery of shadow, light, and human expression.

The painting comes beautifully housed in its original, heavy vintage presentation: a multi-tiered gold gilt wood frame elevated by a wide burgundy mat liner with a textured fabric finish. The combination of rich color and classical chiaroscuro styling makes it a profound focal piece for a gallery wall, study, or living room console. Signed by the artist in red oil paint in the lower right corner. See less
