A beautifully preserved glimpse into the elegance of the early 20th century, this antique portrait miniature dates to 1919 and depicts a refined young gentleman dressed in a dark three-piece suit, crisp high white collar, and tie. His composed expression and formal attire wonderfully capture the style and character of the post-Edwardian era.
The portrait is artist signed and dated 1919, adding both authenticity and historical interest to the piece. Delicately rendered in soft, naturalistic tones, the sitter is set against a subdued green background that gives the portrait a quiet sophistication and allows the finely painted facial details to stand out.
Overall measures approximately 5 inches high, 3.5 inches wide, and 0.25 inch deep. Total weight is 134 grams. The miniature is housed beneath its original-style glass within an ornate brass metal frame, finished with a decorative suspension ring at the top. The warm, aged patina of the brass beautifully complements the muted colors of the portrait and gives the piece the unmistakable character of an object that has survived for more than a century. Good antique condition with age-related wear to the metal. Please review the photos for further condition assessment.
Small portrait paintings such as this were treasured personal objects, often commissioned to preserve the likeness of a family member or loved one. Today, their intimate scale makes them particularly appealing for display within a collection of antique portraits, on a gallery wall, or incorporated into an English country, traditional, or old-world interior.
