A handsome blend of American silver and mid-century craftsmanship, this circa 1940s sterling silver catchall dish is distinguished by a genuine 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar mounted prominently at its center. The substantial bowl is fashioned from thick, clean sterling silver with a simple, gently curved form that allows the historic coin to command attention.
The centerpiece is an authentic circulated Morgan Dollar coin, one of the most recognizable coins in American history. Designed by U.S. Mint engraver George T. Morgan, the Morgan Silver Dollar was originally struck from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921. The 1921 issue marked the return—and final year—of the original Morgan Dollar series after a 17-year interruption. Composed of 90% silver, these substantial coins became enduring symbols of late 19th- and early 20th-century American commerce and the nation's great silver-mining era.
Overall measures approximately 4 inches wide, 4 inches deep, and 1 inch high. Total weight is 102 grams. The coin's naturally circulated surface provides an appealing contrast against the highly polished sterling bowl, giving the piece both decorative presence and a tangible connection to American history. Its compact proportions make it ideal as a jewelry catchall, ring dish, coin tray, desk accessory, or gentleman's dresser piece. It would be equally attractive displayed empty as a small piece of vintage silver. Good vintage condition with light signs of wear and handling. A wonderfully versatile piece combining sterling silver craftsmanship, numismatic interest, and classic vintage style.
