c. 1930-1950s; Wilkinson Sword, Ltd. - London
Vintage tin litho hairdresser advertising sign.
This piece advertises Wilkinson Sword razors, a previously British-produced line of shaving and grooming supplies. Despite being known for their razors today, and their name bearing the word "Sword", the company began in 1772 as a manufacturer of guns. However, the also did branch out into swords and bayonets. In addition to weaponry, the company also produced some of the earliest motorcycles in association with Victor Antoine of Liège.
The sign features large, figural razor graphic with a small barber pole column to the right.
