Large-format botanical artwork by Natural Curiosities after the historic “Pee-Ponnagam” illustration from Hendrik van Rheede’s Hortus Malabaricus, Volume V, Plate 24, originally published in 1685. The plant is historically identified with Mallotus philippensis, also known as the kamala tree.
The composition features an exceptionally detailed branching botanical study with the original-style multilingual nomenclature preserved at the upper right, including Malayalam and Arabic script. The neutral sepia and ivory palette gives the piece an elegant archival appearance while the oversized scale makes it highly decorative.
Printed on substantial handmade-style paper with softly deckled edges and bearing the embossed Natural Curiosities seal at the lower right. Float mounted against an ivory textile ground and presented beneath glass in a sophisticated dark striped wood frame.
