Table lamps attributed to hector guimard art nouveau gilt bronze i have one much larger statement lamp which is the … Read more Table lamps attributed to hector guimard art nouveau gilt bronze i have one much larger statement lamp which is the same not listed as yet, its around four times the size of these a spectacular pair of art nouveau table lamps attributed to hector guimard, displaying the flowing, organic vocabulary associated with the celebrated french designer and his distinctive style guimard. Each features an elegantly sweeping gilt-metal stem rising from a sculptural foliate base, supporting an elaborate openwork frame hung with cascading clear glass rods, faceted crystal drops and a dramatic black teardrop cabochon. The sinuous botanical forms and highly sculptural construction are evocative of the revolutionary parisian art nouveau aesthetic for which hector guimard (1867–1942) became internationally celebrated, most famously through his iconic paris métro entrances. Each lamp bears an engraved hg monogram to the base, an intriguing detail supporting the attribution, although the lamps are offered as attributed to hector guimard rather than definitively authenticated works. Exceptionally decorative both illuminated and unlit, the cascading glass creates a wonderful jewel-like effect against the warm gilt finish.
