Exceptional pair of French wall sconces dating from circa 1940, finely crafted in gilt bronze and glass, each centred by a circular mirror within a sculptural concentric frame.
The composition is defined by two elegantly curved arms supporting cylindrical light sockets, with original pale green glass drip trays creating a delicate contrast against the warm gilt-bronze. Beneath each central mirror, finely worked scrolling motifs introduce a subtle decorative element, balancing the strong geometric character of the design.
The combination of circular mirrored forms, architectural bronze detailing and translucent green glass gives the pair a distinctive Art Deco character, while their restrained proportions make them equally suited to a contemporary interior.
The sconces have been rewired by a professional electrician.
A particularly elegant and unusual pair.
