Handcrafted using the sommerso technique, the sculpture incorporates a central column of glass containing finely dispersed gold particles, surrounded by a layer of milky white opaline glass. These contrasting elements are encased within a substantial body of clear Murano glass, creating a layered composition in which the internal colors and textures appear suspended within the crystal. The Virgin Mary is depicted with her head gently bowed and hands joined in prayer, her elongated figure rendered through smooth, flowing contours. The simplified facial features are highlighted by gold leaf inclusions, while the translucent outer glass defines the folds of her veil and the softly modeled lines of her body. A broad circular halo rises behind the head, its gold-flecked glass introducing a luminous contrast to the pale blue-green tones of the surrounding crystal. The gold inclusions continue through the central body of the sculpture, forming a vertical element that draws the eye from the halo towards the gently flared circular base. Together, the restrained figural treatment and layered glass construction give the piece a quiet, contemplative presence. The original Murano Venezia label remains affixed to the front of the sculpture. The Madonna is in very good vintage condition. There is one fine hairline scratch to the right of the hands, visible only upon very close inspection, together with minor wear to the polished base. There are no chips or other damage to the glass. Dimensions: Height 25 cm (9.84 in); width 8 cm (3.15 in); length 7 cm (2.76 in). This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
