Seen from a distance, the composition suggests a melancholic and mysterious landscape or interior view. Up close, the image dissolves into thick textures, layered surfaces and bold brushstrokes, revealing the physical character of the paint itself. Deep blues, purples and greens are contrasted with lighter yellow and white passages, creating depth and a subtle sense of light.
Den Ouden balances recognizable imagery with abstraction, allowing the viewer to move between landscape, architecture and pure painterly form. The result is an introspective contemporary work with a strong material presence and an understated emotional atmosphere.
View is particularly suited to collectors of contemporary Dutch painting, abstract landscape art, expressive painting and textured contemporary artworks. Signed by Maker See less
