Its solid chestnut frame opens on both sides with three pairs of doors. The brass fittings display the purest Art Deco style. Two 1.75-meter white marble slabs adorn the top, one on each side, originally intended for preparing remedies. The marble shows some chips on its edges and surface wear. These are the marks of a century of service, which we have chosen to embrace rather than excessively restore. Similarly, the baseboards are discolored after years of chlorine floor cleaning, as was common practice in healthcare settings. A few small pieces of wood are missing, but these do not affect the structure or function of the counter. Designed to be double-sided, this counter served as a true partition in the original pharmacy. It comes from France and dates from the very beginning of the 20th century. Today, it can once again play this role in a contemporary interior: as a central island, storage unit, or statement piece standing out in the middle of a room. At three and a half meters long, it makes a statement. It structures a generous space—a hotel, restaurant, boutique, or large open-plan kitchen. A truly exceptional piece.
This unit is a single piece; it cannot be disassembled. Only the marble countertops are in two parts. Take its dimensions into account to ensure it can be installed in your space. See less
