The pope is represented in formal ecclesiastical attire, portrayed with the dignified and solemn expression characteristic of official papal portraiture of the period. The sculptor has carefully modeled the facial features and vestments, taking advantage of the soft translucency and warm tonal variations of alabaster to create a refined and lifelike appearance.
