Arizona Sunset is the name of this unusual carpet decorated with polychrome motifs, the result of the artistic fantasy of the legendary Turkish artist Zeki Müren (Bursa 1931 -Smyrna 1996). Active in fields ranging from classical and contemporary music to poetry and acting, he specialized in Decorative Arts in Istanbul from 1950 to 1953. Zeki Müren in the '50s/'60s created for his house on the Bosphorus a series of carpets, now objects sought after by collectors, which are an expression of his whimsical fantasy, decidedly against the Turkish world of those years. His carpets are an expression of joy and life, where colour is the master in tune with decorations that are linked to more artistic experiences. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
