This rare pair of table lamps was designed by Einar Johansen and produced by Søholm in Denmark in the 1960s. The model is numbered 1205, and both lamps are marked and signed on the underside of the base with the model number and manufacturer’s name.
The stoneware bases are finished in a soft cream glaze, accented with a striking cluster of raised nodules on one side, resembling a honeycomb, and a grey-green drip glaze that flows down the neck and pools around the base. The pair offers a beautiful example of the tactile, hand-finished quality Søholm ceramics are known for. The shades have been newly renewed in a cylinder shape, upholstered in a beautifully textured Dedar Chambray fabric that complements the earthy tones of the glaze.
The lamps are in good original condition, and have been rewired with new 220V wiring and fitted with new E27 bulb fittings.
