Village weavers of the period typically produced longer runners for hallway use. This short-runner scale falls outside the standard commercial sizing, making it a genuinely scarce find.
The rug follows the classic Heriz format: a large, angular central medallion in a stepped diamond form, floating on a brick-red field and anchored by matching pendant medallions at the top and bottom. The medallion itself is built up in nested layers — a soft rose-pink diamond core with a small circular rosette at its heart, surrounded by an indigo lattice, then a coral-red octagonal frame, and finally the deep navy outer points that meet the field. The coloring is the classic Heriz combination — brick and terracotta red, indigo/navy, and a range of blues from steel to sky, warmed with soft coral-pink and cream. The soft rose-pink in the corner spandrels sits against the indigo/navy ground with just enough contrast to glow without ever fighting it. A pale green tone in the inner guard border and used sparingly in the leaf and calyx details of the field provides added charm to this colouful rug. This rug is in excellent condition. Can be used anywhere in the house and has been cleaned professionally. See less
