(2 pcs) French Ormolu Mahogany & Satinwood Commode Set
Late 19th-early French
(1) Antique French Louis XVI style mahogany and ormolu-mounted dressoir (or buffet à deux corps base) with a green marble top. Features a Greek Key frieze with prominent Neoclassical geometric border running along the top edge. Features heavy gilded-bronze (ormolu) mounts featuring classic Louis XVI motifs, including floral swags, garlands, and ribbons on the panels.
(1) Antique French Louis XVI style satinwood and ormolu-mounted sideboard with a green marble top. The center doors feature dark octagonal panels with classical figure cartouches (one depicting a rearing horse/centaur-like figure, the other a bull or charging animal). This design heavily references Directoire or late Louis XVI "Etruscan" style popular in the late 19th century.
