Oversized framed horticultural artwork by Natural Curiosities, adapted from an early-19th-century engraving associated with British horticulturist William Forsyth and his landmark 1802 publication A Treatise on the Culture and Management of Fruit-Trees.
Titled “Peach,” the composition depicts a formally trained peach tree with a striking symmetrical arrangement of branches, accompanied by smaller pruning studies at either side. The original inscription along the lower edge reads:
“Published Jan’y 1st 1802, for Willm Forsyth, Kensington.”
Forsyth served as gardener at the royal gardens of Kensington and St. James’s and became known for his methods of pruning, training and restoring fruit trees. His 1802 publication included thirteen engraved folding plates devoted to these techniques.
Natural Curiosities recreated the historical plate on textured handmade-style paper with deckled edges and an intentionally aged appearance. The embossed Natural Curiosities seal is visible at the lower right. Float-mounted over a neutral ivory textile ground and presented under glass in a simple dark wood frame.
The broad horizontal format and highly architectural silhouette make this especially effective over a long console, credenza, dining-room sideboard or sofa.
