The striking composition features a dark crested eagle perched prominently on a branch, rendered in deep black, charcoal, muted gold and earthy brown tones. Beneath the image are the inscriptions “Nisser Tokoor” and “Bruce’s Travels.”

Bruce’s original Nisser Tokoor illustration was published in London in 1789 as part of the natural-history material accompanying his travels, where he identified the bird as a Black Eagle.

This later decorative interpretation bears the Natural Curiosities embossed studio mark on the sheet and retains the Natural Curiosities label on the reverse. Floated against a neutral linen-textured ground and presented under glass in a dark faux-bamboo frame.
