A charming 19th-century American wall mirror crafted in beautifully figured maple, dating to approximately 1840–1860. The frame displays particularly attractive curly and tiger-maple figuring, with warm honey and amber tones that highlight the natural movement of the wood.
The rectangular mirror is surrounded by a molded maple frame and embellished with an elaborate pierced crest featuring scrolling forms and stylized foliate details. A similarly shaped lower apron and delicate side flourishes give the relatively petite mirror an unusually decorative architectural presence.
The mirror plate displays attractive age-related hazing and silvering consistent with an antique looking glass, contributing to its character and sense of history. The reverse retains an old wooden backing and hanging wire.
Its narrow proportions make this an especially versatile antique mirror for a powder room, entryway, bedroom, gallery wall, or above a small chest or console.
