A handsome three-volume collection of classic literature in a beautifully coordinated palette of forest green, soft cream, teal green, black and gilt. Selected for both literary interest and decorative appeal, the collection includes Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and Other Stories, Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw / The Lesson of the Master, and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings’ The Yearling.
The Dickens volume was published by Marshall Cavendish in 1987 as a facsimile reproduction of the 1910 edition originally published by Chapman & Hall in London and Charles Scribner’s Sons in New York. Its richly decorated dark green binding features elaborate gilt ornamentation and makes a striking anchor for the collection.
The Henry James and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings volumes are handsome Modern Library editions published by Random House, with contrasting cloth bindings, black title panels and gold lettering. The James volume carries copyright dates of 1891 and 1898 with a 1930 Modern Library introduction copyright, while The Yearling carries 1938 and 1939 copyright dates.
Together, the three books create an especially attractive decorative grouping with varied heights, textures and complementary colors. Ideal for a traditional library, study, living room, guest room or styled bookshelf, and particularly well suited to English country, traditional and collected interiors.
