Striking pair of vintage Calligaris dining chairs, made in Italy circa 1980s, featuring an elegant sculptural Postmodern silhouette.
The chairs are distinguished by their tall, gently curved fan-shaped backs with beautifully figured ribbed wood grain, slender tapered rear supports and cylindrical front legs. Contrasting dark black/brown leather seats create a sophisticated combination with the warm honey-toned wood.
The curved backs and dramatically tapered profile give these chairs a particularly architectural quality characteristic of Italian Postmodern furniture of the period.
Both chairs retain the Calligaris maker's mark and Made in Italy label underneath.
A beautiful pair for a dining table, writing desk, entryway or as occasional statement chairs.
