Rising from a decorative cast base with marbled slag-style glass accents, the stand is surmounted by a detailed twin-engine passenger aircraft rendered in the streamlined style popular during the Golden Age of Aviation. Beneath the airplane is a circular tray incorporating two ash receivers, a covered match safe, and a built-in MICO electric cigarette lighter. The fluted central column and geometric lighter housing further reinforce the piece's Art Deco aesthetic, while the illuminated glass standard provides both ambient light and visual contrast to the polished metal surfaces. Equal parts smoking accessory, novelty lamp, and aviation collectible, the stand reflects the fascination with air travel and modern technology that defined the interwar period. See less
