The "Linwood … Read more An impressive set of eight matching ebonized hardwood dining chairs made by Hickory Chair Furniture in North Carolina. The "Linwood Dining Side" chairs (Model #SKU HC1551-02) are designed by Suzanne Kasler in a Chippendale style with an elaborate Chinese-inspired fretwork trellis back also known as cockpen chairs. The large set consists of eight side chairs. Each chair is crafted with an arched crest rail sitting above a pierced fretwork lattice back made up of interlocking and crossed geometric designs, giving the backs an open and airy silhouette. The seats are upholstered in a vintage ribbed teal colored chenille fabric and lined by a trim of patinated brass tack nailheads. The chairs sit atop straight front and sabered back legs joined by a straight box stretcher. The frames are finished in a rich ebonized black lacquer, and paired with the open fretwork backs, evoke the sense of Chinese Export lacquered coromandel screens or room dividers. The chair frames are sturdy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The original vintage fabric is slightly faded and lightly worn as seen in photos. Crafted in a Chinese Chippendale style, the chairs are well-suited for a variety of spaces. Sold as a set of eight. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
