The bed embodies the romance and refinement of a beautifully appointed French chambre, with a tall headboard and coordinating footboard framed by gently curved crowns and original woven caning.
Its original painted finish has mellowed into subtle taupe and gray tones, settling into the carving and giving the entire frame the depth and character of an authentic antique surface. Egg and dart borders trace the crowns, while carved ribbons, floral rosettes, spiral fluting, acanthus leaves and pomegranate finials enrich the neoclassical composition.
Slender tapered legs and carved side rails continue the decoration around the bed, revealing the attention given to every viewpoint by the Parisian craftsmen of Hopilliart & Leroy. The original finish and original caning preserve the bed’s authenticity and its intimate connection to the refined interiors of 19th century France.

Note: The bed is depicted without slats to allow for versatility. Slats are included in the price, and upon the customer's request flush mount slats can be provided which will allow one to use a full size mattress set to ride atop the rails, or if a custom mattress is preferred to ride inside the rails, the slats can be recessed from the top edge in a more traditional manner.
