The model was designed in 1952, inspired by the simple sawbucks traditionally used by carpenters and forest workers. Wegner transformed the functional basic shape into an elegant and very comfortable design classic with a strong, immediately recognizable expression.

the chair's distinctive construction is based on the diagonally set legs, which create the characteristic sawbuck shape and at the same time provide very good stability. The clean lines are given a softer expression by the strongly curved backrest and the organically shaped seat, which is wider at the front. The construction looks simple and obvious, but behind the light silhouette is an advanced understanding of proportions, materials and ergonomics.

these examples are made of beech with backrests in beautiful teak. The combination of the light, warm beech and the deeper tone of the teak highlights the sculptural structure of the chairs and gives them a lively and exclusive expression. The seats are upholstered in a soft green leather with a pleasant, muted shade that harmonizes nicely with the wood species.

the arched backrest provides enveloping support, while the generously upholstered seat contributes to a very comfortable sitting experience. Ch29p is therefore just as suitable as a dining chair during long dinners as it is at a desk where good comfort is important. Despite its airy and elegant expression, the chair is sturdy, well-balanced and created to be used.

hans j. Wegner, often called the “master of the chair”, was one of the most important furniture designers of danish modernism. During his career, he designed almost 500 chairs and was internationally appreciated for his uncompromising sense of craftsmanship, construction and comfort. Ch29p is one of his most popular models and also bears a clear relationship with the sculptural ch28 armchair.

carl hansen & søn has been an important custodian of danish furniture tradition for more than a century and is today the world's largest manufacturer of hans j. Wegner furniture. The ch29p was taken out of production in the 1970s but was relaunched around twenty years later at the initiative of the wegner family. The model's continued popularity shows how timeless the combination of lightness, comfort and strong form really is.

the chairs are in very good condition with new, high-strength upholstery and seats in soft green leather, a classic danish design piece that adds character, quality and comfort to the room.
