A luminous 1932 oil on canvas by Belgian painter Gregoor Van Puyenbroeck (1906–1982), depicting the village of Porquerolles on the French Riviera. Terracotta rooftops and a church steeple rise above vineyard rows in the foreground, with blue Mediterranean waters and distant mountains beneath a dramatic cloud-filled sky.
Van Puyenbroeck studied in Antwerp under Walter Vaes and worked within the Belgian realist, post-impressionist, and luminist traditions. His confident brushwork and saturated yet controlled palette are particularly well suited to this sunlit Mediterranean landscape.
Signed by the artist lower right and dated 1932. Presented in its original silvered frame, which beautifully complements the cool blues and warm earth tones of the composition.
Belgian, 1932. Oil on canvas. Ready to hang.
