An Italian sculptural wood chess set. The geometric profiles let the set read as a small arrangement of sculpture without making any piece hard to tell apart across the board.
The red-and-black leather folding board and burgundy compartmented box travel with it; the box label reads "Imported by Fritz Buerger, Milwaukee 17 Wis., No. 3452, 1 Schachspiel" and "Made in Italy." Sold as a complete set of pieces, board and original box. No individual designer is confirmed.
